Additional Policies
Insurance & Confidentiality
By using insurance, you authorize the release of relevant information (e.g., diagnoses, treatment dates) to your health plan.
In rare cases, insurers may request treatment notes or full records.
If your insurance is through your employer, be aware that they may access this information.
Pre-authorizations must be completed before the first session.
Notify your therapist if you change or discontinue your insurance coverage.
Appointments & Cancellations
Exceptions may be considered in cases of illness or emergency, at your therapist's discretion.
To cancel, please call or text (916) 425-7733 or email Alicia directly. Do not reply to automated SimplePractice messages — they are not monitored.
If you do not receive a confirmation of your cancellation, it will be considered a no-show.
Arrivals more than 15 minutes late are treated as no-shows; your therapist may still see you, but the session will end at the scheduled time.
Session Length
Standard sessions are 50 minutes. Adjustments must be discussed in advance.
Some insurance plans only cover 45-minute sessions — you will be notified if this applies.
Additional Services
Services such as extended phone calls, letters, consultations with other professionals, travel time, and court involvement are not covered by insurance and are billed separately at $170/hour, prorated in 15-minute increments.
Mileage is charged at the federal rate when travel is required.
If subpoenaed for court, a $1000 retainer is due 72 hours prior, with unused funds refunded. Court time is billed at $170/hour, including prep and travel.
Technology, Social Media & Electronic Communication
To protect your privacy and avoid dual relationships, Alicia does not accept friend or connection requests on social media.
Email, text, and other electronic communication are not secure and should not be used for clinical content or emergencies.
Teletherapy may be used with your consent. Confidentiality applies, but technical limitations may affect clinical assessment (e.g., therapist cannot observe physical cues).
Fees & Payments
A returned check will incur the bank's fee, and credit card disputes may result in an additional processing charge.
