What to Expect When You Contact Us and in Therapy
When you contact us, you will be greeted by a member of our Admin Team. After setting your account up with one of our Admins, you will receive an email containing a link to a secure client portal. In the portal, you will review our intake paperwork, electronically sign it, and fill out a questionnaire about yourself. Filling out the intake paperwork ahead of time will allow your clinician to review your goals for therapy and get to know you to maximize your time during your first session. We request that the intake paperwork be completed within 48 hours of setting up your account. Once your set-up documents have been completed and insurance (if it is being used) has been verified, we will contact you to schedule your weekly appointments with your therapist.
While our office location is temporarily closed due to the California Shelter in Place order, we will conduct all of our appointments through Teletherapy. Seventy-two hours before your appointment, you will receive an email from our automatic system, reminding you of your appointment. In that email, there will be a link to your video session. Please follow the directions in your initial email detailing how to set up telehealth sessions. If you encounter any difficulties, please text our office number at (916) 425-7733.
At Harbor Counseling Services, you will find a comfortable and warm environment. Therapy works best when you can commit to seeing your clinician once a week for at least 4 weeks. Often times, clients find that if too much time passes in between sessions, they spend a lot of time recapping previous sessions and re-establishing their relationship with their clinician. After 4 weekly sessions, you and your clinician can discuss progress toward your goals and determine the frequency of sessions moving forward.
